Six days and three national parks.

We have been trying to visit national parks whenever we can. We just added Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite, bringing our visits to 40 of 63. Hetch Hetchy is in the northwest top of Yosemite. It is not as well-visited as the main part of Yosemite, but shouldn’t be missed if you’re there! The beauty of all three parks was beyond imagination: spring flowers, beautiful meadows, Sequoias, and snow-capped mountain peaks. We have visited 40 parks so far in the past five years. We will revisit Redwoods, Yellowstone, Tetons, and Bryce Canyon in the next three months. You can’t see them too many times; each visit is amazing!

After we went to the three parks, we headed to Truckee, CA, north of Lake Tahoe. Tim’s cousin Tom Redman and his wife Suzannah, along with their golden retriever Wyatt, have a wonderful log home on the Truckee River. Tom had a friend deliver three cords of wood for next winter. It took a couple of days of working several hours each day, but Tom and Tim got it done.

We headed to the coast on Wednesday and landed a few miles from Fort Bragg. The weather is a bit chilly but sunny. We can bike from our site at MacKerricher State Park into Fort Bragg. Rode in today and went to the Guest House Museum. Lots of history on the lumber business, back when you could fell the Redwoods. The interior trim was all first-cut redwood. It was beautiful.

Gonna just enjoy the ocean beating on the rocks a few more days before heading north to Crescent City, the big Redwoods, and the Oregon Coast.
