Bingo, Hikes & Crème Brûlée (and How Sharon Cooks) 🥾🍮
Tim, Sharon, Deb and Chris in Cardiff by the Sea
We had a great couple of days with Chris and Deb in Cardiff by the Sea! Of course, we played games and cards. Walked at Mission Bay one morning—what a beautiful area!
Deb surprised me with an early birthday treat: Crème Brûlée. Always my favorite; I could eat it every day!
Left on Jan 31 and headed to the Voyager RV Park in Tucson. We usually meet Danny and Jonna Montgomery here, and we all stay until April 1. They weren’t able to make it this year, and we really miss them!
We stay at the same site each year. Many of the people on our street have park models and are here for 6–8 months, so we know some of the folks already. Every Thursday, Lois (four sites down) hosts a cocktail hour from 4:00 to 5:30 for all the neighbors.

Tim and I both swim laps at 7:00 every day. Tuesday night is BINGO—I won $70 last Tuesday! Tuesday and Thursday morning is quarters shuffleboard… we are becoming stereotypical old folks!
Tim has joined the resort’s hiking club. They meet once a week and hike 5–10 miles.
We went to Tim’s cousin’s house for dinner last night. They live 30 minutes north of Tucson. Some of you may remember Mike and Gayle Urbanski. They lived in Findlay for seven years. Mike and his brother John owned The Rocking U. We had a great time catching up and sharing family stories.
Looking forward to seeing our good friends, Phil and Cheryl Spahr. They are joining us on Feb 16 for five days. Until then, we will enjoy the weather and old folk activities.
To answer some questions:
How do I cook in our van? Where do we keep things?
Our Fancy Grill
Tim made me a tripod with a grill hanging on it. We put coals in a broiler pan below the grill when we want to cook out. We have an induction burner plate that I can set on the counter or on a table by an outlet outside our RV.
Tonight, I used my cast iron Dutch oven and made roasted red pepper soup on my induction burner while we watched the Super Bowl… on an iPad. We don’t have space for a TV—thank goodness for iPads!
We also have a toaster oven/air fryer that I use a lot and a small microwave. There is a storage area under our bed to store our cookware, some tools, and an Iceco cooler that can be set as a freezer or fridge. We are currently using it as a freezer.
A crockpot would be nice, but there’s no space for one. This all works, so I am happy!
