Two Months on the Road

Dinner with Mike and Gayle

Today is March 3rd and we have been on the road since Jan 3rd! Time has flown by and everyday has been amazing! The sun has been shining and the temperature 70’s and 80’s during the day and cools down to 50’s at night. We have visited with family and friends, made many new friends and become accustomed to living in our Cass B!

Last post we had arrived in Tucson and went to Urbanski’s for a lovely dinner. I forgot to post a picture of Mike and Gayle so am including it in this post.

We have both been swimming laps every morning, Tim at the crack of dawn, me a bit later. Between swimming, biking, hiking, shuffleboard and playing games, we keep very busy!

Phil and Cheryl

We have met so many new friends! We became fast friends with Georgia and Ted Stutzman a couple of weeks ago. Had fun learning cribbage from them and taught them 7’s and Canadian salad card games. They took us on a wonderful hike across the road from us to see some of the rock art one of the full-time residents here creates in the desert. It’s probably a 4-mile total hike to see them all. What beautiful creations! Unfortunately Georgia and Ted have moved on toward their home in Green Bay. Not to be forgotten! I am sure we will stay in touch!

Georgia and Ted and Rummikub

Phil and Cheryl Spahr came down and stayed a couple sites down from us. Had a great time catching up. The talented lady, Karen, who does the rock art that the Stutzmans showed us, took the Spahrs and us on a couple-hour hike to see all of her rock art creations. We had missed a few the last time. She was awesome and had a story for each one. Then we played cards and Rummikub. Tim took Phil out hiking Mt. Lemmon with the resort hiking club. Not sure Phil will go with him again! It was a pretty tough climb!

Since the Spahrs have left we have met three Canadian couples that are so nice! We have been spending time with them at their campfire, in the card room and at the shuffleboards. We taught the Canadians how to play Canadian Salad 🤪 and they taught us 10’s. They all play shuffleboard so we have been keeping busy having fun with them. They are here until middle of March so I see much more fun in the next couple of weeks! AnnMarie, Terry, Bob, Wendy, Denise and Mark! I hope you all come back next year!

Card Games with Canadians

March brings St. Patrick’s Day and most of you know that is my favorite holiday! Several Rooney Arizona cousins made plans to come stay here for a long weekend for our 2nd annual Rooney cousin’s mini reunion. Chris and Deb will be joining us! They are driving their Winnebago over from San Diego March 11 for a week.

The resort has meeting rooms large and small that are available by reservation at no charge for group gatherings. It is so awesome to have a place indoors out of the sun for an evening of sharing food and libations with our Irish ☘️ cousins. Will post a group picture next time. Until then, may the luck of the Irish be with you ☘️☘️
