Two Adventures, One Family

June 29, and the Rooney’s are on the road again! We arrived home April 25. We have had so much fun with family and friends! We will miss you all.

Tim put a new roof on the house...by himself! I’m pretty certain this will be the last time he does a roof! I helped him insulate the attic. Hoping the heating bills decrease a bit now.

With projects completed, we have spent the rest of our time at soccer, baseball, and track. It’s great to watch the grandkids at their sports!

I planned a mystery tour night for my LRC girlfriends! Fun time had by all! We met at the Moose for a beer and to wait for our designated drivers. We had two cars, and Erin and Jenn Foos were our DDs for the night. The girls had no idea what I had planned. From the Moose to the WET, where Shawnda had a row of Little Beer shots awaiting us at the bar. Earlier in the day I went to the Lion’s Den and picked out three items that the ladies had to find and purchase. I wrote a little poem to hint what the items were. So from the WET we went to the Lion’s Den and had a scavenger hunt!! So much fun and giggles! Then on to Juniper's in BG for food and more libations. Then we walked down the street to Howard’s Club for good-time rock and roll! It was such a fun night!

Had another fun slumber party with Tom and Chris Meyer. Food, libations, and euchre! Tom is king of euchre! The man cannot be beat. Halfway through the evening, when Chris got up from the table, I switched seats. I needed switch seats so I could be Tom’s partner and be a winner! I was tired of losing! Can’t wait until the next slumber party, and I am claiming Tom as my partner forever!

Slumber Party and Cards with Tom and Chris

Once a week we enjoyed dinner, Blanton’s, and cards with John and Robin Koehler. So much fun!

June 6, my granddaughter, Darby, and I flew to Italy for two weeks. Active Travel out of Toledo sent each of us a questionnaire of our likes and dislikes when traveling, then put together the perfect trip for us! From Assisi to Rome to the Amalfi Coast and the island of Ischia. They arranged everything! Private drivers and private guides, cooking class, and beautiful hotels with great views and access to the sea, train tickets, ferry tickets! I didn’t have to worry or stress about anything, just be in the hotel lobby when the driver arrived. We saw the most beautiful little towns. The driver would drop us off to the guides and pick us up when we were done exploring. There were no issues at all. Everything went smoothly! It was a perfect vacation with Darby! We had so much fun!

While I was in Italy, Tim took Silas, Emmett, Coen, Nate, Justin, and Tomas to hike 50 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Tim and the three eleven-year-olds drove to Harpers Ferry, where they met up with Nate, Tomas, and Justin. After about two miles of hiking on the first day, Tim realized that this hike might be a bit ambitious for everyone. Some of the backpacks were way too heavy, and there was some struggling. They made it the five miles to where their first campsite was.

That night they decided they would hike back down and drive to where they were going to finish, set up camp at the shelter there, and do day hikes from there with no packs. Unfortunately, the second day Coen got sick. Sean drove down and picked him up. The rest of the trip went smoothly, and they had a great time. Uncle Nate, Tomas, and Uncle Bean were awesome with the twins! They did some hiking in Shenandoah National Park, went canoeing, horseback riding, saw Tim’s sister Suzy and Uncle Chuck, went to Gettysburg, then home! A fun time was had by all even though plans were changed! The twins were awesome hikers. They want to come hike in the desert with us this spring. We will see if we can work that out!

Today we are headed to MI to visit friends before we head west again. Stay tuned! I’m sure we will have stories to share as we travel on...
